This policy describes how the Voxera desktop app and related official site handle information. It is provided for transparency; consult a qualified professional for legal advice in your jurisdiction.
Scope
It covers the Voxera client on Windows and macOS and our static marketing pages (home, FAQ, contact, this policy). It does not govern third-party sites or services you use separately—see their policies.
Contact
Questions, access, correction, or deletion requests: Contact or open an issue on Voxera-releases. We may ask for information to verify your identity.
Categories of data
- Audio. Recordings are sent through our managed API (Cloudflare Worker) to our speech-to-text subcontractor for transcription.
- Text. Transcripts and optional AI steps (e.g. proofreading, custom instructions) may be sent through our API to our language-model subcontractor.
- Screen context (Pro). Words gathered from the foreground window may be included in the transcription prompt sent on the same transcription path to improve recognition.
- Account. If you sign in with Google, your email and provider identifiers are stored in our backend and linked to your user record.
- Sync (signed-in). Settings, dictionary, and history can be stored on our backend when you use cloud sync.
- Billing. Pro purchases are processed by our payment processor; card and billing data are governed by that provider’s terms and privacy policy.
- Local data. Settings, dictionary, history, session token, and usage counters are saved in files on your device.
- Free-tier API use. Without sign-in, IP addresses may be processed briefly for abuse prevention (e.g. rate limiting).
- Updates. The app may call GitHub’s public API to check for new releases.
Identifiers & contact
With Google sign-in: email and provider user identifiers stored in our backend. If you email us, we process what you send; the contact page opens your mail client—there is no server-side form post from that page by design.
Purposes
Providing transcription, text injection, optional AI features, account and plan management, abuse prevention (including short-lived processing of IPs for rate limits on the free tier), sync for signed-in users, billing through our payment processor, security, legal compliance, and improving the service.
Legal bases (reference): Depending on your region, processing may rely on contract performance, legitimate interests, consent, or legal obligation. Ask a professional for advice specific to you.
Disclosure
We share data with subprocessors as needed to run Voxera, comply with law, respond to lawful requests, and protect life, safety, and rights where required. We do not sell personal information for money or other consideration in the sense of U.S. state “sale” definitions as they apply to our current business model.
Subprocessors
Including but not limited to: Google (OAuth), subcontractors for speech-to-text and language-model processing, our payment processor, Cloudflare (API and data infrastructure), and GitHub (release metadata). Review each provider’s policy for details.
Cookies & the website
Our pages are mostly static. We load fonts from Google Fonts; your browser may send standard connection data (e.g. IP) to Google. See Google’s privacy policy. We do not use first-party advertising cookies on these pages by design. Your browser can block third-party requests or cookies; layout may change.
Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to operate the service, meet legal duties, and maintain backups. Some technical or legal limits may delay deletion. Contact us for deletion or export requests.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures (e.g. encryption in transit where applicable, access controls). No system is perfectly secure.
Automated decision-making
Voxera processes voice and text when you use the product. We do not use fully automated profiling solely to produce legal or similarly significant effects as a primary goal of the current design.
Children
Voxera is not directed at children under 13. Parents and guardians should supervise minors’ use.
International transfers
Providers may process data outside your country (e.g. Cloudflare’s global network). Transfers may rely on contractual safeguards required by applicable law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data, object to certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is consent-based, or complain to a supervisory authority. Contact us to exercise those rights; we will respond within a reasonable time.
Third-party links
Our site may link to GitHub, the checkout flow for paid plans, or other services. Their privacy practices apply when you leave our pages.
Changes
We may update this policy and will change the “Last updated” date. For material changes we will use reasonable notice (e.g. on this page or in the app where practical).
